During this period, their primary activities are feeding and sleeping, as they require constant nourishment and rest to support rapid growth and development. The mother cat provides essential care, including nursing, grooming, and keeping them warm. Kittens are born with a strong instinct to seek out their mother’s warmth and milk, often nudging their way to her teats. Their sense of smell is highly developed, enabling them to locate their mother even in the absence of sight and hearing. The first milk, known as colostrum, is crucial as it contains antibodies that provide immunity against diseases. In the first week, their weight should double, indicating healthy growth.
